Well, now that downtown is overrun with yuppies and clubbers, there is another reason to pass on the Power and Light district and head to midtown. Jeremy and I decided on Blanc Burgers and Bottles after we drove from Strawberry Hill, to 75th and Metcalf, to Waldo, to Brookside, the Plaza next and finally Westport.
At first I was a little leary. Not a big menu. and I HATE when I cant get free refills of diet coke. (they serve every beverage in bottles except cocktails i assume) But, as soon as I got my food and realized the HUGE selection of beverages to choose from, I was quite happy.
The burgers were fucking awesome. Juicy, flavorful, fresh. I got the classic, with homemade pickles and ketchup, it was perfect. Now a few weeks ago we went to Chef Burger, and really liked it, but I gotta say, this burger blew them out of the water. It was presented nicely, the soda glasses were perfect, the place was clean and comfortable. We also ordered sweet potatoe fries which came with 3 homemade condiments, sweet ketchup, chipotle aioli, whole mustard seed aioli, each tasted awesome. Lots of flavor but not overkilled. The price was pretty reasonable, around 30 bucks for 2 people. And when we left I was so full, but not a greased up sick full that you just want to go throw up, but a wow a good meal finally happy full.
Next time, we gotta try the 'adult milkshakes'. Oh, and my ONE complaint is that it sits above Blaney's lame and very loud music. That definitely ruined the atmosphere for me. Had the food not been so good, i would have been really annoyed.
Hey guys at blanc, maybe a free beer for me next time I come in?
Side note-
reasons I liked Blanc over Chef Burger
1. Chef Burgers staff were vacant and rude.
2. It feels like a fucking cafeteria at Chef Burger, vs. a casual, cool and comfortable atmosphere at Blanc.
3. Chef Burger is crowded, not as in a lot of people, but they didnt lay the place out right.
4. I felt like Blanc's chef(s) paid a lot more attention to detail and flavor, and the ingredients were fresher.
